Why SSP33 exists

Selfie Seal Productions is known as SSP33 — a shortened, intentional name chosen because it is clear, memorable, and rooted in meaning.

SSP33 represents a commitment to the craft: Story first. Sincerity always. People-centred.

The number 33 symbolises continuity — the endless cycle of seeking truth, capturing moments, and sharing stories that connect people, place, and responsibility. It reflects the idea that what is witnessed and recorded today carries forward.

SSP33 developed through time spent alongside seal hospitals, coastal volunteers, and organisations working in and around the water. Being present in these spaces made it clear how much important detail, context, and human reality is often unseen or quietly lost.

Through ongoing involvement in ocean activism and volunteer-led work, the need for careful, independent documentation became impossible to ignore. Moments that mattered were happening without being properly witnessed, recorded, or carried beyond the shoreline.

SSP33 was created to change that — to document what is happening, to support ocean activism through evidence and storytelling, and to ensure these experiences are visible, understood, and not reduced to noise or headlines.

This is independent documentary work, developed slowly and responsibly, so that the message does not rely on algorithms, urgency, or second-hand interpretation.

What we do

How we work

SSP33 works independently by choice. Independence allows time, trust, and accountability to develop naturally. Stories are earned through presence — not extracted for spectacle.

The work prioritises people, wildlife, and lived reality over trends, performance, or algorithmic urgency.

SSP33 in one line

Story first. Sincerity always. People-centred.
